What are nameservers (DNS)?

Nameservers are used to provide information about your domain name to other users on the Internet. When somebody types in your domain name to their browser, the browser accesses specified nameserver to find out IP address of the server where the browser should locate a file associated with the domain name. To put in another way, the nameservers translate your domain name into a server IP address.
